PhatWare Corporation announced today WritePad for iPad 4.0, the advanced handwriting recognition software for iPad. WritePad lets users take notes in their own handwriting with an iPad stylus pen or their finger. This state-of-the-art handwriting recognition software will adapt and learn while it is being used, improving the recognition quality over time.
The new input method, introduced in this version, allows users to enter text by writing on the input panel which occupies approximately the same space as the on-screen keyboard. The writing is immediately converted to the digital text and the intermediate results are presented to a user before the final output is sent to the application.
Using the handwriting input panel may be significantly faster than writing by hand in the full screen mode or using the on-screen keyboard, as it helps to reduce the error rate during recognition. Users can now choose either the full screen, or the input panel handwriting mode depending on their preference.
WritePad has a spell checker with it's own custom dictionary, a context analyzer which allows users to dial phone numbers or open URLs embedded in the text, auto-corrector which automatically fixes common spelling and recognition errors, and a Shorthand feature that lets users perform editing commands, insert the current date, time, and any repetitive text by writing a short name and drawing a circle around it.
WritePad also allows users to exchange documents over Wi-Fi between two or more iPad or iPhone devices, and to download files onto the desktop computer using the Internet browser. Interface to the Bing Translator, lets users translate WritePad documents to 13 supported languages.
WritePad for iPad 4.0 is only $9.99 USD (or equivalent amount in other currencies) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Productivity category.
