Barrack 1.03 6/11/96 4020 K Barrack's goal is deceptively simple; there are a number of balls on the play field that are bouncing like a neurotic on a sugar rush. Your job is to use your shooter to isolate them. Sounds easy, right? It isn't.

Bedlam 2 1.0.1 8/11/97 4976 K Similar to the arcade classic Galactican, Bedlam 2 places you in a heavily armed ship and challenges you to take out the endless procession of falling aliens. Like most new versions of great classics, this game adds nice new graphics, good twists to the game, and great gameplay.

Bolo 0.99.7 5/20/97 836 K Bolo is a shareware legend on the Macintosh. Very networkable, Bolo gives you a tank, a battlefield, and enemies. Gameplay and graphics are professional and fun. This game is supported by loads of custom maps, utilities, and anxious network opponents.

BoogaLoopers 1.1 11/16/97 2622 K BoogaLoopers is a great concept for an arcade game. You must save the universe by acting as its janitor and looping up all the space debris. Unfortunately, it fights back. Do your best to encircle the stuff with your tail and make it disappear. A product of StickMan Games.

Boom 1.1 12/29/97 2875 K In Boom you run throughout mazes of blocks planting bombs to clear your way and to eliminate the enemy. Progression through difficulty levels is very good and the game is very addictive. Exceptional quality and fun! Classic gamers might recognize the basis for this one.

Bubble Trouble 1.0.1 6/3/97 2039 K Bubble Trouble by Ambrosia is yet another wonderfully fun game. Simple in premise, like the old arcades, but full of fun sound, graphics, and action. Right on par with Ambrosia quality! Needs 68020 or better, 2.9MB RAM free, 256colors/grays, System 7.0 or better.

Burning Rubber 1.2.3 7/16/97 700 K Burning Rubber is a top-down perspective car game similar to the arcade classic Spy Hunter. Try to hit moving targets for points while dodging terrain barriers in a race against time, and the cops!

Chaos VR 3D Blaster 0.6a 11/17/95 381 K ChaosVR is an arcade game in which you fly a lightning fast space ship through an incredible 3D world and blast enemies to pieces, racing through texture-mapped fractal mountains and futuristic architecture.

ColorFall 1.11 5/22/97 154 K ColorFall, based on the Tetris theme, adds the challenge of matching colors into links of four or more before a section will clear. Nicely done in every way, and very playable.

Columns Max 1.5 10/21/97 1791 K Built on the Tetris theme, Columns Max requires you to line up columns of multiple colors so that like colors form rows. An additional challenge that creates a whole new game!

Delirium 1.2 7/31/97 1382 K A nice modern rendition of the classic Defender. Great background sounds, good retro-graphics, and swift gameplay. Either the game is a little too hard, or I'm not nearly as good at Defender as I used to be!

Dirt Bike 3.0 12/4/95 1200 K Dirt Bike is a motorcycle simulation action game. It accurately simulates the motion of a motorcycle over varying terrain -- now with color graphics.

Dome Wars 1.2 4/14/97 1200 K DomeWars is a great waste of time for an individual or several people! This version adds networkability, continues a great interface, and adds some other nice features. Great fun!

DuckQuest 1.3 4/9/97 383 K Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. Better than marginal graphics, simple gameplay, but somehow amusing. You are a duck trying to rescue fellow ducks while being persued by farmers who want your neck.

Foobar VS the DEA 1.1.4 12/10/97 1.45 MB One of the more unique shareware games around, Foobar is a nicely designed, top-down view, jetplane flying shootem-up with a great deal of silliness and nice gameplay. Puts you in a good mood in no time at all!

Galactica 1.1.2 6/7/97 1.6 MB Command, rule, explore, and develop an entire galaxy, all within a point and click interface. Very similar to Pax Imperia, and very professionally done, Galactica is sure to take lots of your time!

Glimmer 1.2 6/30/97 1401 k Using that great 3D technology from the 1950's, Glimmer gets it's incredible 3D imaging by requiring you to wear 3D glasses! The author can help you get a pair to try out the game before registering it. You'll want to register it, too! Needs a minimum '020, System 7, and 256 colors on 13" or larger.

MacAttack 1.9 6/24/97 1.1 MB Go for your wallet - you'll be registering this one! An awesome rendition of Tempest complete with killer tunes, awesome graphics, and a great 3D perspective. Atari would still be around if Tempest looked like this! Needs a Classic or better and 1.5MB ram.

Maelstrom 1.43 11/4/97 901 K The dreaded Maelstrom is a dangerous asteroid belt within which you must skillfully pilot your spacecraft. Currently only in .bin format. This is another great one from Ambrosia Software. And don't forget to visit the add-ons page!

Meteor Storm 1.2 5/21/97 1051 K One of the most impressive shareware games since Maelstrom! Don't be lulled into a calm by the beautiful graphics, sweet tunes and smooth gameplay because it will slowly but surely overwhelm you. The Meteor Storm drops rocks and bad guys your way, but you're heavily armed and highly maneuverable - blast them all into glittery space debris! Two player gameplay is available.

Poing! 1.0 4/30/97 320 K As the name implies, Poing! is similar to the Pong idea, only greatly enhanced. You must direct a bouncing ball at a stationary bell by placing paddles in its way. The ball will only go where the paddles direct it, so think quickly before you place them. Great music and smooth graphics.

Prometheus 1.0 9/8/97 1.8 MB From the golden age of arcade classics comes a shareware version of Qix. Prometheus is a finely produced strategy game where your goal is to claim growing percentages of the playing field. This is accomplished by completing blocks of area while avoiding the "sweeping firestix." Great fun in the classic form. Developed by QuarterNote Software.

Scruffy II II 4/16/97 1.5 MB Scruffy is a slightly rough, though very enjoyable game where you play a dog named Scruffy trying to save his girlfriend from aliens. Your bark is your bite in this one, unless you can jump over the aliens and their attacks. Side scrolling adventurous fun for the dogs.
Sirtet Voyager! 2.0 3/6/97 5413 k Just when you thought the Tetris idea couldn't get any better, it gets great! Sirtet adds all the right things to make the Tetris theme a BLAST! Crashing pianos, great graphics, and awesome sounds.
Skittles 1.0.7 5/23/97 806 k Tetris is fun, but at times it seems to be missing a certain "cuteness." Alas, Skittles is the cutest version of Tetris around, and one of the most challenging as well. Instead of blocks or objects, the falling pieces are animated balls like Skittles candies that must be matched by color.

Slider 1.0.3 8/7/97 204 k Slider is a simple strategy game that challenges even the most organized minds. You must slide a key tile through a screen of tiles and onto the goal tile. Shuffling the tiles to clear the way takes much planning and foresite. Good luck!

SlugMan TVG 1.0.1 6/19/97 312 k SlugMan takes the Glypha III coding and converts it to an adventure based on the Foxtrot comic strip. In the Foxtrot strip Jason creates a comic character named SlugMan who fights the evil PaigeTron (his sister). SlugMan TVG plots SlugMan(you) against PaigeTron in a flying joust tournament. An excellent rendition with roots back to Joust, the classic arcade game, that places you on the back of a flying ostrich jousting other flying badguys.
Snood 2.0 3/10/97 788 K Snood is a blast! A super mix of non-violent arcade action and logical/tactical thinking. Tough to explain, but highly addictive and satisfying. Good for all ages of boys and girls!

Space Gypsy 1.0.1 6/13/97 2090 K Taking the Space Invaders theme to new heights, Space Gypsy offers excellent graphics, great weapons, challenging alien attacks, good sounds and great gameplay. Backdrop scenery is especially nice, as is the wide array of ammo types thrown at you and the range of equipment you have access to. A real winner from the Syzygy Cult. Requires minimums 2.5 - 4MB ram, Sys 7, 68020, 12"color.

Speed Demon 1.2.2 7/12/97 7.8 MB A rather impressive 3-D driving/battle game using the Apple game sprockets. Engage yourself in a race down I-90 or in a demolition match. This version allows you to choose from three different cars with differing abilities. Requires a PowerMac, 16MB RAM, and Apple sprocket set, included. Uses photo-realistic cars and background, good music score, great intro and game graphics - very close to a commercial quality product!

StarFlick 1.0.3 6/4/97 485 K Patterned after Asteroids and similar to Maelstrom, StarFlick centers around the Star Trek Next Generation theme. The acceptable graphics are more than made up for by great sounds from the TV series and nice, smooth gameplay. A must for Maelstrom fans. Built from the CheeseToast source code (found above).

Tiles and Tribulations 1.0 6/5/97 1.8 MB Progressing through the game requires catching falling colored tiles and lining them up according to the present goal. Similar to the card game "Phase 10" your goal becomes more difficult each time. The idea may have roots in Tetris, but the strategy is much different, and likewise a bit more engaging that Tetris. Excellent music accompanies your game.

Triple-A 1.5.1 11/16/97 1938 k You are in control of a ground to air defense system in a mountain range. The enemy wants to take you out. They send in paratroopers. You must defend yourself with old, inadequate equipment by shooting the paratroopers from the sky. The longer you can survive, the more reinforcements you will receive with improvements to your equipment. A beautifully done game - great graphics, excellent controls, challenging gameplay. Why didn't someone think of this one before???
