The Quadra 700, along with the Quadra 900, was the first Mac to replace the IIfx as the top-of-the line Mac. Code named "Shadow" and "IIce", the 700 ran about 20 percent faster than the IIfx it replaced.
Although the 700's standard orientation was to stand vertically as a tower (the first Mac designed this way), users quickly found that it was perfectly okay to use it in a horizontal position. Current used market value of a 8/230 configuration: $450 |
