The 486 is held in check by a simple control panel that switches the card on and off. The system can either share one monitor or use two. Switching systems with one display is done by pressing Command and Return by default.
Aside from having a built in furnace, the Mac side is very similar to any other Performa 630 series. Two memory slots in addition to soldered RAM sets it apart more than anything. The 640 didn't sell tremendously well at $2299, partially due to the low price of comparable PC's and the availability of PowerMacs. Once the price was reduced by almost $1000, they became very popular.
