In a long-awaited and highly expected move, Apple this morning introduced an update to the entire MacBook Pro line of Apple laptops. With faster processors, more powerful graphics and longer battery life, the new family of MacBook Pro are smokin' hot and, best of all, they're available immediately.
Core i5 and Core i7 Processors
Abandoning the Core 2 Duo processors from the previous MacBook Pro generation, Apple has outfitted these new laptops with Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 processors. In response, users can now expect a 50 percent performance boost over the prior MacBook Pro. These latest processors also boast a killer feature called Turbo Boost, a feature that dynamically increases the speed of one or both processor cores as excessive computing demands require. Built-in Hyper-Threading allows two threads to run simultaneously on each core, so Mac OS X recognizes four virtual cores instead of just two. When you’re running multiple applications at once, the Core i5 and Core i7 processors spread tasks more evenly across a greater number of cores – so we can get more done, faster.
Faster Graphics with NVIDIA
Boasting the fastest graphics ever in a Mac laptop, the 15- and 17-inch models of the new MacBook Pro feature NVIDIA's new GeForce GT 330M graphics card. It's a perfect match, as the GT 330M card is substantially more energy efficient than the MacBook Pro's prior graphics processor. Finally, we have a perfect marriage of high speed and battery life!
Extended Battery Life
Since high-performance graphics kick in only when you need them, the battery in the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro can last up to 8-9 hours on a single charge. The 13-inch MacBook Pro can last up to 10 hours. Read full article »
